Situated off Sullivan Trail in Tannersville, Mountain View Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the region. The Park hosts premier recreational facilities, with a wide variety of amenities and outdoor equipment that provide numerous recreational and learning activities.

Mountain View Park opens on April 1 of each year and closes the first week in November. Opening and closing dates may be affected by weather and the condition of the grounds.

Mountain View Park is also home to the Crossing Abilities All Inclusive Playground. The Crossing Abilities playground opened in the Summer of 2014 with the assistance of many local partners. The all-inclusive playground is designed for children of all abilities to learn and play alongside each other.

The park has fully functional, ADA-compliant restroom facilities and handicapped accessible parking.

Pavilions

Mountain View Park has four pavilions equipped with picnic tables, barbeque grills and electrical outlets that can be reserved for private birthday parties, baby showers, and other events.

Pavilion reservations can be made starting in January for the forthcoming spring, summer and fall. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals can reserve one pavilion per day.  Those wishing to make a reservation can do so online using this link or can pick up a reservation form at the Township building.

Sports Fields

Pocono Township is committed to providing the highest quality sports facilities, which include the following:

  • 3 Baseball fields
  • 1 Softball field
  • 1 Soccer field
  • 2 Tennis courts
  • 2 Basketball courts
  • 1 Batting cage
  • 1 Volleyball court

This hidden gem lies at the intersection of Route 611 and 715. The park is home to the patriotic war memorial maintained by American Legion Post 903. In addition, TLC has one softball field, various playground equipment, and for the first time during the winter of 2018, an ice-skating rink. Currently, The Board of Commissioners is committed to upgrading TLC to make it into another beautiful Pocono Township park for all to enjoy.

The Pocono Heritage Center in Mountain View Park provides a community meeting place for all in Pocono Township and the surrounding communities. It is also home to the Legacy Room which holds a treasure trove of historical documents and artifacts from the families who founded our community.

The Heritage Center is also a venue for cultural events including musical, historical, low cost educational programs; and a place for all non-profit community service groups, and private businesses to meet and/or hold events.

Reservations for the Pocono Heritage Center are available to Pocono Township residents. Reservations must be made at the Pocono Township Municipal Building. The resident must provide a valid form of identification showing their primary residence. A valid credit card must be posted as a security measure for any out of the ordinary clean-up costs, trash removal costs, or damage to the Center/property. Otherwise, the card information will be discarded.

1.

NO DOGS OR PETS ALLOWED IN THE PARK. Exceptions can be made for guide dogs/service animals.

2.

All facility usage requires an approved and executed Pocono Township Rental Agreement. Reservations can be made at the township municipal building or via poconopa.gov. Cash payments will not be accepted at the park. Pavilion and field rentals are on a first come, first-served basis.

3.

The rental applicant or designee, known to and approved by Pocono Township, is required to be on-site during the entire event, including preparation and clean-up/take down. The group/designee is responsible for damage to the park or equipment caused by members of that group/designee. Groups are to utilize only the facility to which they have been assigned. Pocono Township reserves the right to reassign a group if the number of attendees exceeds the number allowed on the application. Additional fees will apply.

All events that are to be advertised as “open to the public” require a written proposal to be submitted for review by the Pocono Township Parks and Recreation Board. The Pocono Township Parks and Recreation Board reserves the right to approve, deny, or amend said proposals. Fees for such events will be determined on a case by case basis as part of the review/approval process.

All decorations or alterations to the facility must be cleared with Pocono Township’s park supervising employee in advance of the scheduled activity. No confetti or glitter allowed in pavilions.

6.

Playground equipment and other public spaces (i.e. restrooms, parking areas etc.) are to be shared.

7.

Cars and trucks are not permitted to operate on park premises, other than on roadways or in parking lots.

8.

Trash and recyclables are to be placed in proper containers.

9.

Picnic tables or other items are not to be removed from a pavilion.

10.

Open fires are not permitted. Additionally, fireworks are not permitted on park grounds.

11.

No smoking, e-cigarettes, or other tobacco products permitted in the park.

12.

No alcoholic beverages allowed in the park.

13.

No glass bottles allowed in the park.

14.

No motorized vehicles, ATVs, hover, boards, Segways, etc., allowed in the park.

15.

Remote controlled aerial vehicles (drones) allowable in safe open areas of the park, to be enforced by park personnel.

16.

Digging or penetrating of ground or surface is prohibited.

17.

Moon Bounce equipment or play bounces are not permitted.

18.

Failure to appropriately use designated bathroom facilities will result banishment from the park and may result in prosecution (ie. indecent exposure/public urination).

19.

Refunds for canceled use: Must cancel 30 days prior to reserved date for a full refund.

20.

Failure to comply with all park rules and regulations could result in banishment from the park and/or legal action and forfeit of the rental fee for the pavilion.

21.

Pocono Township’s park supervising employees have the authority to act upon and enforce specific situations not covered above. In all cases, Pocono Township has the final decision.

22.

Park closes promptly at 8:00 p.m. Gate is locked shortly thereafter.

23.

Buses are not allowed on park grounds.

24.

Multiple pavillion reservations by one individual for the same date are not permitted.
